Lumbar Laminectomy / Microdiscectomy
Lumbar Laminectomy / Microdiscectomy is available through Mishe Health Plan at a published cash price, paid when you book.
A lumbar laminectomy with decompression is a surgical procedure aimed at relieving pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots in the lower back (lumbar spine). This pressure is often caused by conditions such as spinal stenosis, herniated discs, or bone spurs. During the procedure, the surgeon removes part or all of the lamina, which is the back part of the vertebra that covers the spinal canal. By doing so, space is created, reducing pressure on the spinal nerves and alleviating symptoms such as pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower extremities. This procedure is typically recommended when conservative treatments, such as physical therapy, medications, and injections, have not provided sufficient relief.
